Accomplishing those 2020 goals
Ringing in the new year with family and friends and trying to think of resolutions that will impact our lives in positive ways, what a great way to start the year! Whether it’s hitting the gym, being kind to one another, or even something as simple as eating more fruits and veggies, of course, these are all great resolutions. Big or small, setting and aspiring to new goals gives us a sense of purpose, direction, and fulfillment.
In the business world, companies strive to make sure that transitioning from year to year, they will grow and get better each year. As a new decade unfolds, here at TK, we have learned that to attain happiness, it’s important to focus on all aspects of your life, not just your professional life.
This means being able to unplug (Yes, sometimes even from technology!) after a workday and focus on our own lives and the world around us. Taking time for ourselves and for family and friends decreases stress, improves relationships, and ultimately leads to more success and productivity in the workplace. Who out there does not enjoy interacting with others who have great attitudes and a smile on their faces?
The key here is getting started. Take advantage of your time away from work to reflect and refocus. Step one is to evaluate your past year, both the good and the bad. Think about changes you would like to see in your life and set some realistic, attainable goals. Step two is to think of ways to implement these changes.- and stick to them. Then remember to celebrate each small success and keep your chin up if and when you fall. Just think how much you will learn about yourself and life as you move forward and grow and how much more you can share with your loved ones and your colleagues.
But wait!!! Don’t make this a “tomorrow” thing, get started now. Start the year right, and continue to motivate yourself, take the actions, but most importantly, do what makes the mind healthiest AND happiest! Focus on and enjoy the journey into this new decade even more than the destination itself. You won’t regret it!
What are you goals? How do you stay motivated?
